Total Building Supplies (formally known as Smith Timber) began in Hawke’s Bay in 1980 with hardware and building supplies and then a few years’ later frame and truss manufacturing began and still continues to this day.
We currently have a staff of 22 on-site in Hastings.

We have a fleet of delivery vehicles consisting of two crane mounted trucks, one flat deck truck and several utility vehicles.

We also have an in-house estimating and draughting team that numbers five and extra capacity when required.

In 2006 Smith Timber went thru some major change and some redevelopments happened with the building of a purpose built dry goods store and hardware showroom. We have also expanded the sealed concrete area of the yard and expanded our product range to include a wide range of Firth masonry product and James Hardies product.

Today

Total Building Supplies offers the building industry of Hawke’s Bay and surrounding regions an outlet that can offer the builder and home owner a one stop shop for most of the building materials.

The job can start with our friendly estimating team taking your plans and working out the quantities and pricing for frames, trusses and materials, then our draughting team can detail the frame and truss requirements for the job. We manufacture all the frame and trusses on-site and provide a delivery service to your site with using our crane mounted delivery trucks.

We also have a well stocked hardware showroom and dry goods shed that carries a large range of hardware lines, door hardware, tools, glues & sealants and a lot more in the dry store shed we carry a large range of board product, insulation, mouldings etc.
